"Ask Adam" Adam has been in the HVAC industry for over 40 years. He has been involved in all aspects of the business from service to sales. His main interest is in customer comfort. Do Your Windows Have Condensation? Adam Kern, Owner Official Heating & Cooling August is usually a pretty warm month with average daytime temperatures of 82° F and night time temperatures averaging 62° F. When you have significant temperature swings combined with excessive moisture many homeowners have seen condensation on their windows. However this condensation is on the outside of the glass as opposed to being on the inside (as it is in winter). The principle of this phenomenon is the same, it is called the dew point. The dew point is defined as the temperature where the air is 100% saturated with moisture. Whenever you see condensation on the outside glass it simply means your windows are doing their job. They are blocking the heat from inside the house to get outside. And because the outside surface temperature of the glass is cooler than the dew point, the net result is condensation. This condition is usually not seen with single pane windows because their heat loss to the outer surface is not impeded.
