As vice president of my 8th grade homeroom class, I thought I could do a better job than our president, so I composed an argument for his impeachment. Long story short: He was voted out, and I became president.
That’s when I understood something I’d suspected since I was ten and making up stories and story snippets I kept in secret notebooks. Writing (and later editing) would play a huge role in my life. Over the years, that has turned out to be true.
In July 2018, I added a new activity to my list of micro escapes from “real” writing and editing projects: reading short cozy mysteries—the shorter the better. I enjoyed trying to guess “who did it” before the scoundrel (and/or motive) was revealed
Eventually, I thought it might be an interesting change of pace to write this type of flash fiction. These 26 “cases” are the result of that effort.
