Business Insight New Year, New Insurance There are many topics in daily life stories that are simply boring. No action, no jokes, just papers and bills. All of us face those quite often and all of us limit time over those issues as we prefer doing more exciting things. This might be a big mistake. Sometimes, "by avoiding spending time over these boring items, we may miss them altogether and get caught off guards when they show up to bite us. Insurance plans, with their ever-lasting changes are exactly the case we love avoiding discussing but we lament when we need to use them and they do not work to our benefit. Last October, President Trump issued an Executive Order on Medicare. The news missed it. Most of the social media skipped it. Some other communication channels did not really understand the vague language of it so they did not comment either. The Executive Order is giving some stern directions to our health services administration to promote private insurance plans, so called Medicare Advantage, instead of regular Medicare. Promotion agenda would include low cost programs, spending accounts, simplified billing for time rather than complicated risk, using mid-level providers. I have been using and allowing for non-supervised services by mid-level practitioners, Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants, to be delivering in training outside of their medical schools, medical services at the same reimbursement level as doctors. It also encourages saving" options through utilizing technology like telemedicine and artificial intelligence in limiting cost and burden. I have worked for Medicare patients for the last 20 years. Actually, seniors constitute over 60 of all my patients. I cannot stress enough how confusing Medicare Advantage is to most of my patients. Majority of year, which they cannot do. The rule is them do not even understand that they no simple: Medicare Advantage is great when longer have govemment insurance. They you are healthy and you see a doctor once do not understand the rules and they will not understand health saving accounts. I am happy to say that most of the seniors visiting my office are quite well rounded with computers and l-phones but delivery bills. The difference is that it is patients who of medical care over the internet is not an option. They need many questions ihe funds go back to the private insurance addressed and procedures done. It is not just companies who were the initial problem of sore throat. Our rural areas, often mentioned by the EO, do not have access to high speed internet, let alone artificial intelligence questions or you want to read the Executive applications. Our malpractice insurance is not prepared to work with all the errors made due to poor on-line communication and inability to exam patients. I am not eliminating them for years, with a great success. But they are trained by me and have spent years and they always, always a consultation and a second opinion. None of them would encourage that independent status because they know how crucial it is to have daily support of a physician. And finally, my dear patients: 1 cannot count how many times 1 heard that they wanted to go back to regular Medicare program, sometimes in the middle of the me there for a year. If you start having medical problems, the list if issues preventing you from getting care is unlimited.
