Business Insight Is healthcare a human right? We do not pick whether and when we get sick. We do not make a choice to have a mild or bad cold, or, as a matter of fact, to have a cold at all. We start families and, naturally, may consider to have children. It is not so obvious as it used to be, because many young couple prefer childless life and it is OK to do so. On the other hand, many single individuals or same sex couples may want to have children and they enter all kinds of complicated arrangements to adopt or bear a child. And children get sick every other month, especially when they attend group activities. And we all get older and our organs require tune-ups and fixes like every machine we may use around the house. Yes, you will say and I agree we should be careful with how we live and what we eat, we should exercise and watch our have that day-pay. weight, and we should not smoke and use all beverages in moderation. But, and there is plenty of but-s: how coronavirus, I want all of us to realize that about our genetic dispositions? And how about those who cannot afford organic social services associated with healthcare food? And how about those who were born with malfunctions and cannot exercise? There are plenty of situations that make us all vulnerable to viruses and bacteria, and it is just a matter of time when and how we might get sick. And what then? Majority of us carry some jobs basic medication. By not providing these with employer paid insurance, let it be a high deductible or co-pay, but always totally basic benefits, we actually hurt something. There are, however, millions of Americans who do not have insurance So where am I going with my thoughts? While l am thinking about world spreading our system of medical care delivery and makes us extremely prone to develop and spread pandemic. We are the only economically developed country in the world without public healthcare access and without federally protected sick time for those who are sick. Basic healthcare is offered everywhere and it also offers ourselves as society. Coincidentally, there are discussions about coronavirus and medicare for all at and cannot pay for medical care. The only care they may occasionally receive is emergency room and this is only when they are really sick or had an accident. Those individuals try home fixes or over the counter help but many continue going to work and interacting prepared at any time and every time. It with others. Many do not have proper working conditions to wash hands or use a protective wear to prevent spreading make sure our neighbors, or friends, or their germs and many, again, have no employees, or our car mechanics, all of us money to even get some OTC medication and healthy soup. And they cannot take a sick day because they do not get paid for it, and they simply cannot afford to not the same time. I do not have a clear picture or solution for either. But what I know is that they are very connected. Pandemics come out of nowhere and randomly. We need our society to be protected and is not a matter of if but when. And when it happens, it is in our best interest to as Americans have access and means to basic health services.
