Des Plaines Chamber of Commerce Kiwanis Club of Des Plaines Wins Chamber Food Fight The Des Plaines Chamber of Commerce & Industry's Board of Directors recently challenged local community organizations and chamber member businesses to its 17th annual "Food Fight. Purpose of the Food Fight is to collect uch needed food supply for the Self-Help Closet and Food Pantry of Des Plaines. This year thirteen organizations collected a total of 5,858 pounds of food which was a fantastic effort from all the participants on behalf of the community The Kiwanis Club of Des Plaines won the challenge with 1,903 pounds of collected food. The additional groups articipating in the 2019 Food Fight included: Chicago Behavioral Hospital (254lbs); Countryside Saloon (1 Ibs); Creative Promotional Products (101 lbs); Des Plaines Chamber of Commerce and Sky Chefs (300 lbs); Des Plaines Garden Club (143 Ibs); Des Plaines Camera Club (173 Ibs); Diplomat of Des Plaines (183 lbs); Mill Run Condominiums (483 lbs); MBD Martial Arts Academy (1,075 lbs); Old minion Freight Lines (600 lbs); Rotary Club of Des Plaines (239 lbs); Waterford Condos (300 lbs) Officials from the Des Plaines Chamber of Commerce & Industry and the Self-Help Closet and Food Pantry appreciate the support this year and look forward to an even greater Food Fight next year. The Food Pantry serves approximately 800 Des Plaines families on a monthly basis.
