Business Insight presented by Arlington Dermatology Is there anything we can trust? For the last 20 years or so, we all have become 'computer' addicted animals. With social media boom, people of all ages get hooked to the screens of their computers and phones, and with one strike of a key, they can get hundreds of opinions and responses about practically any topic. How you select true from false is not even any concern. People just read and take in almost anything. We already know that some social media providers were found guilty of enabling young people to commit crimes, self-harm, spread hate, and more. We already know that some others found a way to design algorithms that direct people to do things they never intended to do. And we all lost track of what is important and what can be put aside. Objective truth can be found in science and scientific experiments or in very careful research of multiple reputable sources. Yes, information delivery is fast, and science is changing every day, but still multiple source comparison and deep review and research, done with common sense, is the only way to go. Today, I want to share with you several topics, briefly, that came to our attention as not truthful. Medicare Part C: there is really not such a thing. Medicare is a government sponsored program for seniors 65+ and disability people, with Medicare Part A covering the hospital care, Medicare Part B covering outpatient services, and Medicare Part D covering drugs. You can opt out from the government Medicare and sign up for, so called Medicare Advantage, but this is not service provided by the government. It is commercial insurance program, Humana, United Healthcare and others, which received money from the government to design plans for the same group of seniors. The difference is very substantial. Commercial insurances have many limits and can close their programs for seniors at any time. Psoriasis can be cured with a diet: not so. Dieting is a very important part of our lifestyle. The healthier we eat and live, the better our chances to be healthy and have a strong immune Dema system. Psoriasis is an immune system disease, so anything that affects the immune system will affect psoriasis. But there are many more factors influencing the treatment of this disease. Having a lot of money makes you happy: this is obviously nonsense. 70% of people who won a lot of money in lottery were back in debt within 1 year. There are many people who have more money than they could ever use, and we can see their excessive behavior borderline with abnormality. They have social disconnect issues and they do not feel safe. Yes, having financial problems creates stress on people and families and it should be always investigated, but dropping a million on a poor person may mean as many problems as you can imagine. Computers and Al will replace all humans in workplaces: to be seen. However, we already see signs of Al hallucinations and mistakes that prove that these programs cannot be left alone. They can really and quickly get out of hand, and their predatory activity can damage a lot of vulnerable people. Like any technology, computers and Al can be an excellent tool, but replacing humans? That is questionable.
