Business Insight Thankful For All! You probably know from the past that this time of a year brings a lot of reflections into my mind. It makes me go back for months to reminiscent about my personal events, practice works, and also the large-scale events. Simply, we will soon start all kinds of holidays and a new year is around the corner. I want to use the lessons from the past to make the new year better, as much as I can control it. We have been very busy in the clinic. There are many new patients and even more loyal patients who have been seeing us for years. I always want to make sure we listen to all the patients' comments to continue improving our performance and meet all the expectations. Recently, we have not been great with our 1-week scheduling rule. As much as we wish, it is sometimes impossible. Visits take time, procedures even more. To give everyone well-deserved attention, we maintain a very large staff, with excellent clinical skills and knowledge, and we try to meet the timing rule by substituting some of clinicians with their colleagues. Sometimes, I must use two different nurses working with me on one patient, and sometimes we need to delegate the tasks for the Physician Assistant; all of it serves one purpose: to accommodate the very much stretched schedule, especially now, before the year ends. Thus, I am thanking you all for being our loyal patients' team and asking you for patience. We promise to continue doing our best. presented by Arlington Dermatology I have also been going back to all the events we have gone through together as a community and as a country. Tons of news brought many not so positive changes. Most of them happened as a result and consequence of over 2 years of pandemic rules. Being a doctor, I trust science and I know how much science, especially medical science changes frequently and causes confusions among people who follow these rules. What we know now, we did not know 2 years ago. We all tried our best and protected our families and employees. But some consequences of this global pandemic not only continue but will stay with us for an undefined time. I know some of you are angry and will not trust medical news anymore, but I can assure you that we all have experienced anger and unknown. In all of it, I am thankful we survived as a clinic, and we maintained operations throughout the entire pandemic. I am thankful to all my employees who tirelessly show up to work every morning, stayed home rather than went out, wore masks and other protective attire, and served you every day. Recently, I watched some Sunday commentary by Fareed Zakaria, TV journalist and writer, Indian-born and American- educated personality. He talked about the pandemic and elections, and his personal history with our country. He came to the US to study at Yale and Harvard Universities, and ultimately became an American citizen. He recalled his first months and years in our country and compared it to many other countries he visited and lived in. And he said something very worth telling: no other country opened so many possibilities for him, no other country expressed so much friendliness, no other country embraced him for who he was. And he said: 'I love it here no matter what and I am going nowhere else. I thank this country for what I have and who I am: Let's use his words as my wishes and thoughts for all of you this coming Thanksgiving Michael Bukhalo, MD Arlington Dermatology 5301 Keystone Court Rolling Meadows, IL 60008 Tel. 847 392 5440 | www.arlingtondermatology.net Business Insight Thankful For All !
