Business Insight presented by Arlington Dermatology More About Research Today I would like to introduce you to Kelsey. In her own words, she talks about how and why she was attracted to medical research and how she became a part of our team. It is important that clinical research is 'rejuvenated' and supported by young and ambitious individuals, who follow in the footsteps of the traditional scientific approach to medical development, but in a much more dynamic and novel way. Rather that complain how different the young generation is, it is more productive to involve them, train them, and practically utilize their skills. Read below. My decision to enter clinical research is driven by a desire to contribute to medical advancements for the benefit of future patients and be a part of a process that brings hope to those currently enrolled in clinical trials. In this field, I found a meaningful way to merge my skills and interest in scientific inquiry with my commitment to making a tangible difference in people's lives. The path that led me to research started. as an undergraduate student, where I learned to appreciate the rigor and virtue of the field. In academic settings, I was most engaged when given the opportunity to investigate beyond the textbook. I thrived in courses that included open-ended research projects. I enjoy meticulously combing scholarly articles using key words, identifying gaps, and thinking of new ways to approach old problems. To me, it is about understanding the process of reaching the right answer, not just finding it. This mindset made research a natural fit for my academic and personal interests. My transition to clinical research at Arlington Dermatology was a natural progression from my previous work as a dermatology medical assistant. As a medical assistant, I witnessed firsthand the impact of chronic skin conditions and the potential of new therapies to improve patients' lives. This experience highlighted the need for continued improvements in medicine and piqued my interest in how new drugs are tested and proven safe. Furthermore, I appreciate that research ma performed in the medical office setting, clinical trials allow provider-investigators to enhance care by providing investigational therapy in conjunction with current standard-of-care treatment. When failing treatment options or financial barriers dull a patient's quality of life, clinical trials can be a new light. My clinical background equipped me with a patient-centered perspective that informs my approach to study coordination. I aim to use my clinical skills and attention to detail to contribute ethical, compassionate efforts towards research. This means prioritizing the informed consent process, minimizing patient burden, and emphasizing patient safety. Ultimately, I chose to enter clinical research to help make the treatments patients rely on every day safer and more effective. After working directly with patients with skin conditions, I saw how much they could benefit from safer, more effective options. Research provides me with the chance to be part of turning questions into answers and helping shape the future of care through science and compassion. This field offers a meaningful opportunity to combine scientific curiosity with my dedication to improving people's lives. is capable of collaborating with standard Kelsey Sundberg of care treatment for a more personalized approach to care.
