Business Insight presented by Arlington Dermatology The Power Of Our Mind! It is very difficult to convince anyone to think positively if things go wrong for that person. No matter how hard you may be persuasive, they just feel you do not understand. And that might be true: we cannot fully understand another person's thoughts, especially if we do not know much about them. However, there are many studies, medical and psychological, showing data, that positive thinking can do miracles. Are those true 'miracles? It depends on your faith and world view, but your immune system definitely prefers positive thinking than overthinking and stress. You cannot change the world; it is out of your control. You cannot change your neighbors or friends; it is also outside of your control. And if you try to control them, they may stop socializing with you. But you can always find positive things in them. And then, you can focus on the positive rather than negative. It is quite common to hear from patients who suddenly flare psoriasis or any other immune system related disease that it began when they were going through some stressful time, both psychologically or physically. Stress to the mind and stress to the body equally influence our internal defense system to go on alert. And the longer the stress is remaining our daily struggle, the more damage will be done to the immune system, which simply gives up its defending role. By doing just that, it allows all predisposed conditions to come out and attack. It can be your heart or skin, whatever your dispositions are. This applies even to catching a cold: if you are tired, lacking sleep or healthy food, a simple cold may become much bigger of a problem. This Holiday Season, I wish you all the best health and happiness. I wish you peace mind and I wish you strength to achieve an ability to think positively. Please, try it and encourage others to do the same.
