Business Insight Peace and stress. When we think about peace, usually we refer to 'no wars' type of peace. But this is not really the case. Peace should refer to 'no fighting' in general. People fight over everything and anything these days. We just heard the news of some young man being shot and killed over the bushes trimming too close to his neighbor. Nonsense and tragic loss of life over a completely senseless argument. People fight within families, communities, red and blue, Christians and non-Christians, Jews and non-Jews, white and black, rich and poor, you pick your own category. When you analyze the reasons, your objective conclusions are that most of those fights are pointless, trivial, and should not be happening. But they are happening. They cause a lot of loss of energy, loss of money, resources, and lives. They also cause tremendous damage to our global health. presented by Arlington Dermatology It is not a secret that most illnesses that cost billions in spendings on healthcare are linked to stress that has a huge influence on our immune system. Simply, we are carrying some genetic dispositions to mutate our healthy genes into something that can debilitate us or kills us. Once stress makes our physical conditions or mental conditions vulnerable, we respond with a medical issue that was triggered by our suppressed immune system. The triggers can come from smoking, unhealthy environment, and stress. Can you see where I am going with my thoughts? The bottom line is that many of our medical conditions, especially chronic ones, are preventable if we could live our lives in peace and no stress. Of course, you will say, it is impossible to avoid stress these days. True. But you can limit it. The problem is that, in order to be impactful, you need to limit that stress as a team, a team of family members, community members, country, organization, etc. You alone cannot do much because we all have too many human interactions. Last year, an actor, William Shatner went to space on one of the space travel ships from Blue Origin. When he returned, this is what he said: "My Trip to Space Filled Me With Sadness" Please, copy this link and read his whole story. It is worth your time and reflection. We humans have this enormous desire to lead, show superiority, win, make others smaller and, in the end, we destroy what matters the most. Somehow, we got more and more greedy, selfish, and careless about others, despite claiming religious views, Jesus, and more. It is all superficial show. Most of us do not care about pain if it does not happen under our roof. And it should not take space travel to come to conclusions Shatner did. We all should be able to find our own way of looking at our smaller and bigger worlds and work together to make them better. We should care about our neighbor, even if he or she cut some of our bushes by accident. That is what most religions tell us to do. So, why don't we do this? We can start in our own backyard. This is how we can reach peace. And with peace, we can limit our stress.
