The party will feature a "main event from 3 to 7 pm, with delicious food and drink, live and silent auctions. a Derby Diamond Draw raffle and other fundraising activities. From 7 to 10 pm. an after party will take place with dancing, a hand-rolled cigar bar and a variety of festive fun. The second-largest homeless shelter in Illinois, Hesed House serves families and individuals facing homelessness in the community. Among the services Hesed House provides are a women's overnight emergency shelter, family shelter, case management, a homeless prevention program on-site and off-site supportive housing, advocacy and a day program. Last year's Derby Party raised $500,000-an impressive amount the organization hopes to exceed in 2023 "This year, our goal is to raise funds not only for our organization overall but specifically our family shelter," said Lauren Jernigan, Division Director for Development for Hesed House. "We have a significant number of families in our community facing homelessness who are turning to Hesed House because they have nowhere else to go Those numbers aren't going down. "When people become homeless, it's that much harder to move toward independent living, We would love to be able to close our doors because we've met that need, but we have to be here to be available to those who might need us tomorrow and in the future."
